Colour Fun Run To Make A Splash At Coral Sea Marina

Coral Sea Marina is proud to be the host venue for the annual upcoming Colour Fun Run, a free community event on Saturday 13 September, organised by Whitsunday Counselling & Support (WC&S), as part of Child Protection Week 2025.

This year’s Colour Fun Run will take place once again at the Gardens at Coral Sea Marina, from 9am – 12pm, offering a morning of fun, family, and festivity. Participants can enjoy the free sausage, face painting, live music, kid’s activities, as well as the iconic and colourful ‘fun run’ itself!

This event is designed to not only bring the community together with a splash of colour and fun, but also to highlight the vital message of Child Protection Week, that every child, in every community, deserves to grow up safe, supported, and loved, and every adult has a role to play in this.

“Queensland Child Protections Week’s theme is “Protecting Children is everybody’s Business”, explains Niamh Mulvihill, Intensive Family Support Manager at Whitsunday Counselling & Support Inc.,

“Our main goal this year was to get as many local organisations involved to help promote this theme. We will be promoting the rights of the child and encouraging children to recognise safe people in their lives.”

Whether as parents, teachers, neighbours, or community members, adults are encouraged to be proactive in protecting, supporting, and nurturing young people. Community events such as Colour Fun Run are the perfect opportunity to spread awareness, provide information and resources, and showcase the support that is available.

This year’s event will welcome organisations such as the Department of Child Safety, Headspace, PCYC, the Whitsunday Neighbourhood Centre and local Emergency Services.

“By raising awareness through events like the Colour Fun Run, the community can learn more about how to create safe environments for children and show their support for vulnerable families,” says Joscelyn O’Keefe, Head of Marketing and Business Development at Coral Sea Marina.

“We are honoured to host this event and support Whitsunday Counselling & Support for their incredible work. We look forward to welcoming the community to the marina for family fun, entertainment, and a great cause.”
